P1 Panther Boat

Envisaged by the former marine engineers of the Royal Navy of the United Kingdom, the P1 Panther is an innovation and design marvel built to rule the waves. Featuring the leading technology in hull design, safety, ergonomics, environmental stewardship, digital telemetry and data acquisition, the P1 Panther is built for the $30 billion marine race/leisure market. Reaching the top flat speed of 120 kmph, this beast is as rapid as it gets. After the completion of each day of the race, the boat is enclosed with a tamper-proof seal by the UIM. Thus, with no separate modifications allowed for different team boats & everyone starting equal on the starting grid, it places sheer emphasis on the driving skills of the pilots during the races. But, what makes the P1 Panther even more special! What makes it one-of-a-kind for both the pilots and the ordinary people! The propellers and the cowl on the boat makes the P1 Panther a different ball of wax. Here's how. During the races, the normal propeller is replaced with a racing propeller that makes it faster.

Thus, more than the technical aspects, the pilots need to be on the top of their game to get the best out of the P1 Panther during the races. Coming to the cowl part, it kicks up the ergonomics a notch higher. And, the removal of the cowl turns this beast into a four-seater rapid leisure craft that can be driven by anyone. Designed for the world's best pilots and the ordinary people alike, the P1 Panther comes with different strokes for different folks.

Sounds interesting? You may ask if you can drive the P1 Panther! YES, you can absolutely do it. It is as easy as ABC to drive the P1 Panther for a leisure lap. How about experiencing the P1 Panther hands-on? We've got an amazing contest coming your way which can win you a passage to drive the boat on the Mumbai shores. Watch this space for more details.

Coming to the technical aspects, it is a mono-hull powerboat built around a single engine outboard configuration that can be powered with any modern outboard engine. The enormous 250HP BRP Evinrude engine lends itself to a truly green racing event with no smoke, quiet performance, and no oil changes thanks to the advanced fuel and oil injection system. A polycarbonate windscreen provides secure protection from wind and water while providing outstanding visibility. Full support seats are mounted on a shock absorber system, providing four inches of compressive travel in addition to the seat cushion. A low centre of gravity provides paramount stability and improved handling to the powerboat which can race in just six feet of water, with 1-2 feet of chop providing the ideal conditions. The P1 Panther is targeted at developing and nurturing new team owners and pilots into a global powerboat racing fraternity. Carrying EU, CE, EPA, and CARB standard certifications, the P1 Panther is a friend to the environment which makes NEXA P1 Powerboat Indian Grand Prix of the Seas the world’s first truly green racing event.

Hull

Composite core and stringer materials control weight and simplify the lamination process, with vinylester resin to bond the matrix. The boat's 100 percent composite construction created a completely unitized structure for endurance and safety. The Panther has a bi, tri, and quad-directional knitted fiberglass hull with twin step shape.

Cockpit

The cockpit design was engineered to provide many of the elements of an enclosed cockpit in a "commercially viable" open-cockpit configuration. The cockpit liner is integrated into the deck component, independent of hull sides. The space between the cockpit liner and the hull sides is supported by bulkheads creating “crumple zones" providing a 360 degree additional layer of protection for the pilots from both water intrusion and collision impact.Access to the forward compartment of the boat is only available through a deck hatch, leaving no open access for water to enter the cockpit at the pilot level to cause hydraulic related injuries. Placement of driver/navigator inside the cockpit ensures maximum protection from water impact and collision, with their shoulders at or below the level of the side of the deck line, within the isolated cockpit liner. A polycarbonate wind screen provides secure protection from wind and water while providing outstanding visibility.

Cowl

The P1 Panther also features a cowl which is an aerodynamic structure behind the race seats that encourages air flow into the engine. As opposed to the racing purpose, the removal of the cowl makes way for space for two additional seats that can be used for leisure purposes.

Engine

Evinrude exclusively supplies engines for the SuperStock series. P1 and BRP work closely together on technical, marketing, communication, research, distribution and environmental issues. BRP is a world leader in the design, manufacturing, distribution, and marketing of motorised recreational vehicles and powersports engines. The Evinrude E-TEC range of engines are award winning, market leading engines. Powerboat P1's partnership with Evinrude ensures low cost racing through the use of a stock engine.
